The Barn was purchased in 1999 and a recording studio was built in the rear of the property. However, the main part of the building remained mostly unused until 2002 when major renovation work began.
A new skin was built around the outside, providing insulation for heat and sound. The roof was removed and replaced internally with tongued and grooved timber, whilst hand made clay tiles were used on the exterior.
An oak stage and dance floor, an oak and glass entrance lobby and an elm faced store and toilet area with a gallery above were constructed. Underfloor heating, a full theatre lighting system and a high end sound system and a bar were installed.
The barn opened for live performances, filming and recording in December 2003.
