Live Music: Splashgirl (Norway) and Silent Monkey, Wednesday 21/3/18 8pm

Silent Monkey is proud to present, as part of a short UK tour, the incredible Norwegian contemporary jazz trio 'Splashgirl', alongside extracts from their own highly-original and inventive multimedia concept-project The Four Susans.

Splashgirl are three creative, young musicians Andreas Stensland Løwe (piano Keyboards electronics), Jo Berger Myhre (Upright bass, electronics) and Andreas Lønmo Knudsrød (Drums, Electronics), playing their own one-of-a-kind music, (which they describe as 'Doom-Jazz') inspired by any number of musical genres. Since 2007, the band have played a great number of concerts in Europe, Russia, USA and Japan, and have a string of highly-acclaimed albums. This short tour of the UK presents music from their latest album 'Sixth Sense' just released. Members of the band also work with legendary trumpeter Nils Petter Molvær, and Ólafur Björn Ólafsson of Sigur Ros, and have collaborated with a wide range of musicians including Jan Bang, Eyvind Kang, Stian Westerhus, Mari Kvien Brunvoll, Randall Dunn and Timothy Mason.

Splashgirl's alter-ego Soke My Linnet have created the Winter Music for Silent Monkey's project The Four Susans.

Central to Silent Monkey's participation in this event is the world premiere of Alicia Trejo-Gardener's "Autumn", for two saxophones, written for the Four Susans project, performed by Alicia and Olivia Murphy, both renowned Conservatoire alumni. Another such alumnus Faith Brackenbury will work with Narrator Nitemynks (Tonik Poet) to deliver a taster of the evolving experimental theatre experience that is The Four Susans. There may be other surprises too….. It will be the best £6/£8 you've invested in a very long time. (£6 in advance through The Ticket Sellers, £8 on the door)
