Radio and TV presenter Noreen, demonstrated her passion for music at the age of 8 when she picked up the violin, which led to playing the oboe and joining a steel band! Recently she played keyboards for Brit Asian fusion band Sonik Gurus and toured with them from the grimy clubs of London to more exotic locations in Mexico playing at the Cervantino, Central America’s biggest festival. In 2003 she channeled this musical passion into radio and did a stint in local hospital radio. This got her a break, presenting a show at a digital station in London and from there she landed her own show at Club Asia. In 2007 she joined the BBC Asian Network, making her the first signing from Club Asia and now hosts the Asian Network Weekend Breakfast Show every Sat. Noreen’s love of music also led her to writing a double page spread of music reviews for Asian Woman magazine. Last year Noreen made her way into TV by presenting and producing Celeb Chat with Noreen on Brit Asia TV, travelling the country and meeting Asian celebs from the world of film, music and entertainment. She secured interviews with the likes of Nitin Sawhney, actress & singer Karen David, Raghav, Zeus, H Dhami and bagged an exclusive with Hollyoaks, going on set and interviewing the entire Roy family. So as well as radio and TV presenting Noreen regularly hosts events, does voice over work and likes to get behind the decks to DJ. Noreen decided to get involved with Desi Central, as she loves the idea of an Asian line-up of very talented stand up comedians all coming together at this totally unique event. Noreen’s own comedy heroes include Russell Brand, Kenny Everett, Dick Emery, Alan Carr and Michael McIntyre just to name a few!
