The Tenmours Information

Two aspiring 15-year-old young musicians found themselves applying for a place at the prestigious Leeds College of Music. Each on an individual path towards a better musical education. Both subsequently won places on the BTec music course and came together while partaking in the numerous musical undertakings required by the college. Ross Tennant - a folk violinist started playing when he was 7 Years old and wished to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, himself a distinguished folk violinist. Ross took the folk road as his roots were in the traditional atmosphere of music. Alex Johnston Seymour - a multi-instrumentalist who developed a real talent for composing and song writing from a very early age. He'd very quickly mastered several instruments such as the piano, ukulele, guitar, mandolin and voice. When the two young musicians eventually brushed shoulders it was immediate. The violin playing finesse and temperament, coupled with the strong song writing and vocal element soon came to the fore, and 'The Tenmours' were formed. The duo began performing at various concerts and festivals throughout 2015 accumulating with appearances on BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Cumbria. It was during this period that a selection of Alex's songs were heard, which resulted in an approach for the two boys to record a 5 song EP. This began initially with two consecutive sessions with the renowned engineer Geoff Allan at Cava Studio's in Glasgow Scotland. The songs were subsequently mixed in west Cumbria by the young engineer Lee Shackley. The mastering was undertaken in 'Living Room Studio' Budapest by the great Hungarian musical virtuoso Nikola Parov. The album is co-produced by singer songwriter Nigel H Seymour and Alex JohnstonSeymour. The EP possesses a wealth of influences uniquely blended by the musicians to create a commercial folk EP. Nigel H Seymour has contributed two songs to the EP and joins The Tenmours on this rare occasion to record and perform them. 'A Poets Heart' is an emotional demonstration of life's journey from a young and old perspective. The difference of age gives the EP a soulful and mesmerising atmosphere. Following the recording of the EP, it was decided that a new member was needed to add a new dimension to the band and to achieve the sounds used in the recording sessions. Adam Hopkins a classically trained pianist who joined Leeds College of Music for the Degree course quickly came to the attention of the band. After working with Alex on a few projects it was decided he would be the perfect musician to enhance the Tenmours live performance. 'A Poet's Heart' was released on the 18th of July 2016 and has been well received, landing them further radio appearances on Salford City Radio and Drystone Radio. The Tenmours are now planning a 2017 Spring tour to promote and support this release with performances in Glasgow, Cumbia, Leeds and their hometown Skipton.
