GRICE Information

London-born musician, emotive singer and songwriter who has built himself a reputation in left-field circles since the 2012 release of his consummate alt-pop debut album Propeller. With Propeller, GRICE has created 'a genuinely extraordinary slice of experimental rock' Classic Rock presents Prog magazine. In 2013, he was invited at the IBExpo in Sweden where he made an impromptu stage appearance and sang with Steven Hogarth (Marillion) on a premier performance of the track 'Naked' from the album 'Not The Weapon but the Hand' by Richard Barbieri & Steve Hogarth. GRICE's second album Alexandine was released on 22 June 2015. With GRICE taking centre-stage on guitars and vocals, Alexandrine features sonic innovator Richard Barbieri (Porcupine Tree, originally from UK electro pioneers Japan) on keyboards and as co-producer on a numbers of tracks. The 12-track album was mixed by Steve Jansen (Japan/Rain Tree Crow) who also lends his unique percussive input, tonalities and treatments to the work. Alexandrine includes performances from a unique line-up, including Hossam Ramzy (Led Zeppelin/Peter Gabriel) on percussion, Italian freeform trumpet player Luca Calabrese, BJ Cole on pedal-steel guitar (Felt/T-Rex), Suzanne Barbieri (vocals) and violinist Steve Bingham (No-Man). The core rhythm section comprises of Al Swainger on bass and 05Ric (Gavin Harrison) on drums. 'Alexandrine is a multi-faceted rare gem, an intricate play of changing colours and unique rhythms diffracted by GRICE'S passionate vocals and powerful songwriting.'
