John Mustoe began his love for music at a young age, growing up with the sound of Hip Hop reverberating in his ears and embraced all the elements the culture had to offer from B'Boying to graffiti. He began to buy records from artist such as Run DMC Public Enemy LL Cool J. His appetite for music was fed by mix tapes from local Dj's and also from friends in the states who would send recorded shows from WBLS Marley Marl & Cool DJ Red Alert. Through school & youth clubs these tapes were often swoped & exchanged for others of soul music & live sound systems recording from the likes of London's Saxson Crew. Later John bought a set of turntables and began to experiment with the records he had bought over the years. John's ear for music has seen him play from Commercial Clubs to Festivals but his love of Black Music has always had a place in his heart. In October 2000 John was one of the first Dj's to open the fader on a new tier of Radio Broadcasting when he took part in a restrictive Service License (RSL) broadcast on Community radio station Gloucester FM (GFM 96.6) in his hometown. The station was granted a full time license in 2006 and John was one of the Board Members & a former Director of the station. Since the launch of GFM 96.6 John has hosted various shows on the station. More recently John has Dj'd & promoted "old skool events digging in his extensive record collection and Djing at special events for the more discerning & musically appreciative crowds who remember with great fondness the times & tunes from yester year.
