Callum Dewar Information

Currently active as a soloist, chamber musician and composer, Callum Dewar is rapidly establishing himself as dynamic and exciting musician. After being awarded a place to study at St. Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh, he continued his studies at the prestigious Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, under the guidance
of Craig Ogden and Gordon Crosskey. He has performed throughout the UK in many celebrated venues including Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, The Sage in Gateshead, and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall, as well as having given several live performances on BBC Radio.

As a composer Callum’s works have been performed across the U.K., Ireland and France, and span a vast amount of styles and genres including several solo instrumental works, music for chamber orchestras, a Concertino for Guitar and Guitar Ensemble, and a ballet score. Earlier this year he was invited along with Gillian
Maitland to speak at the National University of Ireland’s Composer’s Symposium, giving a lecture and masterclass in writing for percussion. Forthcoming works include a
Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra, a large-scale work for saxophone, percussion and piano, as well as solo works for guitar, trombone and piano.

“Callum Dewar is clearly a name to remember.” Graham Wade, Classical Guitar Magazine.
