TACKLING TRAVEL IMPACTS WITH ECOLIBRIUM

Travel is typically the largest source of emissions from live events. Here at TicketSellers, we recognise this environmental impact and are committed to working with the charity ecolibrium to tackle these emissions and help our network of event clients and their audiences to do the same.

ecolibrium is a live events industry response to the climate crisis – a community of events, festivals, suppliers, artists and music companies taking action to reduce travel impacts and invest in climate solutions.

Since 2015, ecolibrium has worked with over 55 events and 40 suppliers to balance the carbon emissions from over 13 million travel miles. They provide resources, tools, advice and inspiration to reduce travel emissions and invest in climate solutions – supporting ecosystem protection, regeneration and clean energy generation.

In 2016, Ticketsellers worked with ecolibrium to embed their Travel Carbon Calculator into our ticket-buying process meaning that our event clients can offer travel carbon balancing to their audience in a simple and accurate way.

Since then we’ve helped our event clients’ audiences balance the CO2 from approximately 2.7 million average car miles through investment in clean renewable energy with ecolibrium’s Energy Revolution programme.

Suppliers, audiences and artists can also balance their travel emissions directly through the ecolibrium travel carbon calculator HERE.

We also share ecolibrium’s advice and resources for reducing travel carbon emissions from event travel – encouraging more sustainable ways of travelling wherever possible. Read their Guide To Sustainable Travel for Festival and Events HERE.

We also address our own company travel; logging travel miles, reducing them wherever possible and balancing unavoidable emissions – since 2018 we’ve balanced nearly 15,000 company travel miles with donations going to support projects such as Solar for Schools – which gives UK schools access to solar energy and works within the curriculum to educate the pupils about the importance of transitioning away from fossil fuels towards a low carbon future.
