Meet n Greet with Mikael Weermets

In the modern era of dance music, Sweden has done for house music what the Netherlands did for trance and Germany for techno. From electronic titans Eric Prydz, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello to Avicii, Dada Life and Adrian Lux, Sweden has arguably produced some of the scenes most exported performers in recent times. The awareness of these artists has given rise to a new generation of grassroots talent and one such name that is hotly tipped to follow in the same footsteps as his predecessors is MIKAEL WEERMETS.

Named as "the next big thing" by Tiësto and countless other DJ´s, with numerous awards & nominations for his innovative and forward-thinking DJ-sets, countless Beatport chart-toppers released on labels from Tiësto´s Musical Freedom to majors such as Interscope & EMI, the 26 year old Swede is taking big steps against worldwide superstardom.

With "FUCK GENRES" as his motto and "SOUND OF NOW" as his vision, Mikael Weermets has sold out shows all across the globe in the last year, all the way from his homecountry Sweden all the way to Singapore, Dubai, Miami, New York, Glasgow, Paris and the list goes on.

Mid 2012 Mikael´s career exploded even more after signing to Tiësto´s label Musical Freedom and from there went on to completely break down the house of some of the biggest festivals in Europe, including Tomorrowland. After headlining festivals together with names such as Hardwell, Dirty South & Dada Life, you´d think that things couldn't move any faster, but this was only the beginning.

At the end of 2012, Mikael smashed into the UK clubscene with his BBC Radio One guestmix on Danny Howards "Dance Anthems". Mikael´s mix was later named as "Mix of the year" and stirred up so much buzz that BBC decided to air it once again on New Years Eve. Fresh off the heels of a 30 shows tour in the U.S, Mikael has started 2013 with a bang, with a packed tour-schedule and the heavily supported new single "MAKE SOME NOISE".

With this being only the tip of the iceberg of what's next to come from this young pioneer of sound, it´s safe to say that Mikael Weermets is the one to watch for 2013 and After Hours are proud to host him for this groundbreaking event.
