Dormant for nearly a third of a century,originally formed in 1982 by (then) bassist Damian & drummer Andy Baker (joined by Wayne 'Freaky' Freeman on vox & Iain (Anarchy Mole) Cartwright on guitar).In late 82/early 83 WARWOUND spat & cursed out three demos of 'fast,no bullshit,hardcore punk' Heavily influenced by the sounds of the time (Discharge,Crass,Rudimentary Peni,Motorhead,Bad Brains etc) the band played a handful of gigs around the midlands area of the U.K.before in the autumn of 1983 Damian & Andy were enlisted to join The Varukers. WARWOUND as it was,ceased to be.Some friends of the original band did continue under the 'Warwound' name for some time afterwards. During their time in the Varukers,the pair recorded two WARWOUND numbers which were to be featured on the classic Varukers album 'Another religion,Another War'. Since that time some thirty years ago the original WARWOUND demo tapes have been copied & circulated many times through underground circles of D-beat noise junkies. The emergence of Sacrilege in 1984 also added to keep interest alive in the old WARWOUND material. Fast forward 32 years..WARWOUND 2015 Original member Damian,now on guitar (ex Varukers,now with the reformed Sacrilege)has recruited an all new lethal line up. Rat Varuker on vocal duties.After some 35 years in The Varukers & many years fronting Discharge (the undisputed kings of D-beat).Rat was the only man for the job. Ian on bass,having played in many well known bands since 1982,including Decadence Within,Stampin Ground,Suicide Watch,Burnside,Flux of Pink Indians to name but a few, (as well as a prolific author & writer on all things Punk/Metal,Hardcore) Ian had to be the perfect pick for the all important bass position. Stevie on Drums completes the new line up.Also starting out around 81/82,he he has also played & recorded with many bands including Hellkrusher,Senile Decay,The fiend.Dogsflesh,The Vile & more, as well as finding time to work as a sound engineer/producer.
