Get Carter Information

GET CARTER / biography

Get Carter eats, breathes and most likely shits electronic beats.

Promoter of various club nights at key venues in the Midlands, it was his ‘Stupid Underground’ events at the Custard Factory, Birmingham’s most underground and respected music nightclub that caught the attention of clubbing giants ‘Godskitchen’, who were based at Air superclub.

Godskitchen soon offered Get Carter the prestigious full time role of ‘Promotions Manager’. Responsible for the Godskitchen and Polysexual club events, Get Carter managed the entire promotional budget, and strategised all promotional and marketing activities. He also played a key part in the promotion of the record breaking ‘Global Gathering’ 2006 festival event.

After a year at Godskitchen and weekly parties promoting everyone from Erick Morillo, Paul Oakenfold, Deep Dish and Armin Van Buuren, Get Carter returned to the Custard Factory as their full time Promotions and Music Manager.

He now works side by side with the owner, programming the diary with independent brands and promoters. He is responsible for liaising with high profile Dj agents and their artists, and also manages the promotion of in house large scale events at the Custard Factory.

A cheeky reference to the classic 1971 film, Steve Carter was handed his Dj name when clubbers in the Midlands started chanting in unison ‘Get!, Get!.....Carter! at the top of their voices at peak times during his sets. The name stuck, but the Dj sets kept coming and coming.

Get Carter currently holds the record for being the Dj who has played the most times at the Custard Factory. He is the resident for the ‘Stupid Underground’ Breakbeat & House events, and also the resident for the ‘Ultra +’ tech house events.

His CV is impressive having played alongside 2manydjs, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha, Sander Klienenberg, Kissy Sell Out, Zane Lowe, Klaxons, Steve Lawler, Plump Djs, Pendulum, Audio Bullys, Hot Chip, Adam Freeland, Layo & Bushwacka, Danny Howells, Infusion, Dj Sneak, Derrick Carter, Darren Emerson, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors, Freestylers, M.A.N.D.Y, The Japanese Popstars Live, Freestylers, Jo Mills, Mr C, Ali B, Lee Coombs, A-Skillz, Freq Nasty, Evil Nine, Scarlett Etienne, James Lavelle, Aeroplane, D.Ramirez, Caspa, Scratch Perverts, Alix Perez, Cookie Monsta, Funtcase, Hostage, DC Breaks, plus many many more!

In September 2009 Get Carter was offered a residency at Gatecrasher, Birmingham every Friday. Here he plays all night in room 3 playing everything from cutting edge dubstep, drum n bass through to electro. He has held on to this weekly residency to this date, gaining a regular barmy army of mad supporters as a result!

Get Carter also has a deeper, techier, techno version of himself for more house and techno based sets and calls himself 'Tek Carter' when performing this form of music.

He calls himself Get Carter for Dubstep, Dnb and Electro sets.
