Whitesnake UK Information

Formed in January 2005, Whitesnake UK play tribute to the very best of David Coverdale's Whitesnake, from the early classic Moody/Marsden line-up to the present day USA incarnation, faithfully reproducing classic songs such as "Fool For Your Loving", "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again". With a combined musical experience of over 100 years Whitesnake UK can proudly boast of having some of the most accomplished personnel in any tribute band. Bassist John Fisher and drummer Gary Reece first teamed up in the 80's in the short lived Birmingham based supergroup Diamondback (note the snakey references already slithering in!) and they continued to be the driving force behind several other high profile local bands, including being founder members of the UK's number one Gary Moore tribute Moore Or Less, this venture lasting from its inception in 2000 until it's demise four years later. Also joining John and Gary from Moore Or Less was keyboard player extraordinaire Dave Woodfield. Tackling all things guitar-like was the one and only Steve Gardiner. Steve, a long time friend of Johns' from days when they were in the classic rock covers band One Eyed Jack, is a veteran of the tribute band scene and has in the past been a member of Rush sound-a-likes YYZ and also the very well respected Snakebite (haven't a clue who they were supposed to be!) Completing the lineup is the man whose mission it is to emulate the vocal styling of David Coverdale (not an easy task, I'm sure you'll agree) - Tipton's very own Carl Wooton. Having fronted several classic rock covers bands including a spell with Gary in the dubiously titled Spanked, Carl is well qualified to throw his lot in with Whitesnake UK. The debate to include a second guitarist raged on for many days when forming the band. It was finally agreed after several rehearsals (and beers!) to focus on the John Sykes era of Whitesnake and that the inclusion of another guitarist was not required. The combination of Dave's big fat synth & Hammond, and Steve's massive guitar, created a full and simply awesome sound - why add anything else ?! Fast forward to 2009, and sadly Dave Woodfield decided it was time to seek out new challenges - Dave can be seen with the excellent tribute to Pink Floyd, The Pink Floyd Experience. Stepping in to take over ivory tinkling duties was Duncan Cook, having perviously performed with such notable artists as Ian The Goat and the late Stu Clarke, Hustler and Plain Jane, alongside Adrian Marx and Simon Lees. In the Autumn of 2009, after 4 years, Steve Gardiner also decided that it was time to move on, and performed his last gig with Whitesnake UK on 29th January 2010 as part of the Deep Purple Family Tree show. After a lengthy audition process, Steve was replaced by the excellent Steve Munday, a dynamic, energetic and enthusiastic (and very tall!) young guitarist from Sutton. Sadly, in 2011, Mr Munday decided it was time to move on - Steve can now be seen playing lead guitar for the awesome X-Changed classic rock band! 2011 also saw the departure of the very talented drummer and vocalist Mr Gary Reece. Gary and Steve left some pretty big shoes to fill (very big in Steve's case!). Joining WhitesnakeUK on drums in Autumn of 2011 is the awesome Mr Pano Moullaris, having previously drummed with legendary Midlands acts such as Siam and Black Sabbath \m/ Temporarily without a guitarist, thoughts again turned to the classic Whitesnake 2-guitar lineup. After careful consideration and some very loud and enjoyable audition sessions, WhitesnakeUK concluded that it might be good to have 2 guitars for a change - so joining the band on lead guitars are the very talented musicians Mr Greg Darby and Mr Alex Wall, with Alex also contributing to backing vocal harmonies with Mr Fisher. Whitesnake UK concentrate purely on reproducing the classic sound of Whitesnake without the aid of backing-tracks, gimmicks or wigs. For a 100% live performance that will leave you shouting for more, Whitesnake UK are sure to deliver...
