Missrepresent Information

2001   As an avid follower of the rave scene since her early teens, Missrepresent decided to take her love a step further when, in the spring of 2001, her current boss sponsored her first set of turntables. Working furiously to get her technique down, she quickly progressed, playing bars and clubs in her area of Gloucester and Cheltenham, UK. By the end of 2001, she had acquired her first residency with Motivation at JoJo's in Stroud after being picked up by a local pirate station.           2002   After playing guest slots on local radio stations such as GFM in 2002, she soon moved on to promoting small local nights and raves, pushing events forward throughout the country. This got the eye of Devon’s Chemical Element, which scored her a residency. She was noticed by Chemical Records and Donovan Smith, adding another residency and a longer list of repeat bookings in Cheltenham.       www.missrepresent.com was launched in 2002 with Miosis and Mr C at the helm. Jon Gooch, also known as Spor in the drum n bass industry lent a hand in designing the front splash logo.     "Missrepresent" got her lucky break playing main room sets for Revolution when J Majik didn't show. The famous Brunel Rooms, located in Swindon was where she assisted in promoting the 2,000 capacity club. She had picked up Christmas bookings in Oxford at Park Lane nightclub to close out 2002, while 2003 started with repeat bookings again at local bars like the Brunswick in Gloucester, and clubs around the Southwest.           2003   Using the tool of internet radio, Missrepresent had her first weekly show via www.worldwidedrumandbass.com before setting up her own radio station, www.AfterShockRadio.com (ASR). Missrepresent has also played slots on various other net stations, including Planet DnB, London Live and Direct and UK Rumble, but ASR was designed to promote and support upcoming DJs and MCs in her area, and AftershockRadio.com has proven to be a helpful asset in giving back to people who have assisted along her journey. I've been real lucky to have great people around like Donovan Smith, Chemical Records, Nicky Blackmarket, friends, promoters, dj's and everyone else who has been helpful and supportive.         2004   Missrepresent has a long list of accomplishments. Aside from winning the 2004 liquidfunk.co.uk mix competition, out of hundreds of entries, she was also a finalist in the Movement & Drive By competition at Bristol Academy, and has played over 280 bar & club/pub events up till 2005. She has headlined in clubs from Leicester to Plymouth and has played with the biggest names in UK drum 'n' bass across Europe. She has headlined the Wagon Club abroad in Warsaw, Poland, and was asked back the following year to headline again at Club Cube in Lodz with MC Trouble. Junglistic Sistaz has had equal support throughout the London area with spots at Herbal, and has played clubs like EQ Stratford London, Cornhall Cirencester, Brunel Rooms. She was invited to Play at Mc Convention with Skiba and Shabba 04, Cardiff - getting on her 1st tape pack and Spin Technicians Dj Agency moved her Dj Career up a notch.         2005   As 2005 came through, Missrepresent concentrated her efforts on the Aftershockradio.com station which had it's tremendous ups and downs. In 2005 she took her crew of 25 Djs to Germany, all playing internationally alongside her residency there. You can read the ASR history on www.aftershockradio.com     She also found major success promoting events and doing features for various sources including Valve, Bedlam, The BBC, Dogsonacid.com, Hard Step Sistaz and various newspapers. She has been the cover story of EGG Magazine, a music information source.     Holding a new residency at Bambu in Northern Germany, the future looks bright for Missrepresent. She has supported every big name now in drum and bass. â€Å"I would love to play on a beach like Fatboy Slim; maybe in Thailand or somewhere as beautiful in front of 10 thousand people with the sun coming up from an all nighter,†she says on her future aspirations.     For the end of 2005, Missrepresent has played at the Movement Tour as a resident for Brunels, and is the only female Dj playing on the Valve Sound System in October. Shes also just landed her 1st International residency in Germany, a residency at Desire London, and has bookings weekly at drum and bass nights like High Rollerz Swindon up and down the UK.       2006   2006 not only showed her getting Crackers in Gloucester the busiest it's ever been with monthly figures of the events brimming, but now she is bringing through some of the biggest names and newest up and coming names to Gloucester.     2006 shows Missrep gaining 5 more residencies in Bristol with Break @ Blue Mountain, Livestyles @ Clockwork, Unity Luton London and Devotion with nights up and down the UK, and another residency for High Rollerz Swindon.     Missrep was invited to play Raveology Birmingham, Wantage Oxford and more...     2006 shows her playing in Europe more: Tenerife with Phantasy & Uk Apache. Portugal - Play dnb in Porto and with her visiting Lisbon with Dj Wildchild. Germany she is in Augsberg and Missrep is flyered to play in Philly USA.       2007   2007 brings now her 6th set on the Valve sound system, playing back for Liquidfunk.co.uk, Rewind in Cardiff and being repeatedly asked back to play at nights like Raveology Birmingham, holding numerous residencies under her belt.         2007 got her 1st interview in Knowlegde magazine, the worlds leading drum and bass resource. This year is showing increasingly busier, with Missrep taking on bookings for Breakbeat sets as well now. She is now also running drum and bass nights in Leamington Gloucester and Coventry alongside Devotion.     She has taken ASR to Germany, Mass Brixton London, Cirencester and Cheltenham in 2007. ASR has also hosted the 2nd rooms at some of the biggest drum and bass nights in the country to include, Valve Bedlam, Desire London, High Rollerz Swindon and with Peter F at Mass in Brixton London and SE1.     "2007 has been a big year for me. It has been a big year for drum n bass. Record sales are good from what I hear and artists are smashing it. Worldwide the dances are full and everyones having a good time." November 2007 shows missrepresent having more interviews for SoGlos, the countys leading music resource and December 2007 she has been invited to Cardiff Radio to do a live show, with High Contrast on the week before. Her first nternational New Years Eve Gig shows her headlining alongside Moving Fusion and Bad Company in Bremen Germany, back for her 3rd time with Lifeline Promotions.         2008   Moving into Missrepresent's 7th year of promoting event, 2008 got off to a great start with 2 regular events running in Gloucester and Leamington Spa, booking headline dj's and MC's twice monthly. With bookings already starting to flow in, Missrepresent is booked for:     Bedlam @ Carling Academy     Innovation in Sun @ Spain     The Missrepresent.com site received a facelift moving away from a forum based website to a flash/html site, showing the new direction that Missrepresent is heading.     Missrepresent is also taking ASR to the next level by promoting a large venue in Coventry.     2008 is looking to be a great year so far .....         To be continued ................
